Buying a property overseas is one of the biggest decisions you’ll ever make, and I firmly believe it should be an exciting, enjoyable experience—not a stressful one. That’s exactly why I founded The Spanish Property Specialist®. While the company itself is relatively young, I’ve personally been helping clients successfully purchase overseas property for more than 25 years, combining decades of experience with a modern, personal approach to international property buying.

My name is Ian Harris, Founder and Principal of The Spanish Property Specialist®. For more than 25 years, I’ve dedicated my career to helping people turn their dream of owning a home in Spain into a reality. Whether you’re looking for a holiday home, a permanent move to the sunshine, or an investment opportunity, my role is to guide you through every stage of the journey with honesty, integrity and complete transparency.

As a family man myself, I understand that every property purchase represents much more than bricks and mortar. It’s about creating a new lifestyle, securing your future, investing wisely, or finding a place where lasting memories will be made. I treat every client’s purchase as if it were my own, offering the same care, attention and advice I would expect for my own family.

Having spent many years living and working in Spain with our sister company, Go Home To Spain Real Estate Agency, I’ve gained invaluable first-hand experience of the Spanish property market and the way business is conducted there. Working alongside developers, estate agents, lawyers and local professionals has given me a deep understanding of both the buying process and the Spanish culture that surrounds it.

Being able to converse in Spanish has also proved invaluable throughout my career, helping me build long-standing relationships, negotiate effectively on behalf of my clients and bridge the gap between the UK and Spain. It means I can communicate confidently with local professionals, understand the finer details of negotiations and ensure nothing is lost in translation.

Having spent more than two decades working within the Spanish property market, I’ve developed an in-depth understanding of how the system works—from identifying the right locations and negotiating the very best prices, through to navigating the legal process, finance, currency exchange and completion. My extensive network of trusted developers, estate agents, lawyers and industry professionals enables me to secure excellent opportunities on both new-build and resale properties, often providing added value that buyers would struggle to achieve on their own.

Negotiation is one of my greatest strengths. Whether dealing directly with developers or private vendors, my priority is always to achieve the best possible outcome for my clients. My experience and long-established relationships enable me to negotiate not only competitive purchase prices where possible, but also valuable extras such as furniture packages, air conditioning, swimming pools, white goods and other incentives that can make a significant difference to both the cost and enjoyment of your new home.

Unlike many overseas property companies, we have a genuine presence in both the UK and Spain. We understand that many buyers appreciate discussing such an important decision face-to-face before travelling abroad. That’s why you’re welcome to meet with me at one of our UK offices or, if you prefer, I can visit you in the comfort of your own home to discuss your plans, answer your questions and help you understand exactly what to expect before you even step on a plane.

From our very first conversation through to collecting the keys to your new property—and long afterwards—you’ll have someone by your side who genuinely cares about achieving the right outcome for you. Our support doesn’t stop once you’ve bought your property. We provide a true end-to-end service, assisting with everything from independent lawyers and mortgages to NIE numbers, bank accounts, currency exchange, furnishing your home and settling into life in Spain.

Helping people fulfil their dream of owning a home in Spain remains just as rewarding today as it was when I first entered the industry. There’s nothing more satisfying than seeing clients become friends and knowing I’ve played a small part in helping them create the lifestyle they’ve always wanted.

When you choose The Spanish Property Specialist®, you’re choosing far more than someone to help you find a property. You’re choosing a trusted adviser, experienced negotiator and dedicated partner who will protect your interests, simplify the buying process and be by your side every step of the way—from our very first conversation in the UK to the day you collect the keys to your new home in Spain, and beyond.

I look forward to meeting you personally and helping you begin your own journey towards owning a home in Spain.

Ian and his team have amazing local knowledge and provide the best customer service as well as being lovely people. Nothing is too much trouble - before, during and after the purchase. Having not known which area we were interested in, to go to securing a property in 5 days without feeling pressured or rushed ( maybe a little tired!) is an absolute testament to them. A fantastic start to a Spanish getaway. Thanks so much !

Some weeks ago, I decided to visit the Spanish Estate Agents in Ellesmere Port. I was welcomed by the owner, Ian Harris, who kindly gave me his time and answered my concerns.

I was looking for help on how to proceed with the selling of our Spanish villa and I needed good, honest advice to make the right decisions.

Ian could not have been more helpful with his professional advice and guidance and I can’t thank him enough!

After our initial meeting, whenever I had a query, Ian was so easily contactable and very prompt with his reply. His advice showed his excellent knowledge of the Spanish property business and I knew I was in safe hands.

I am extremely grateful to Ian for all his valuable help. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend his first class service to anyone who wants the best advice on the buying and selling of Spanish properties.

Many thanks Ian, you have been an excellent support and provided the best guidance.
